The Department of State Development (DSD) invites public comment on the provision of services to people with disabilities.
Submissions received will be used in the development of a Disability, Access and Inclusion Plan for DSD. The plan will address possible barriers that people with disabilities and their families may experience in accessing DSD functions, building facilities and services.
The Department is required to develop the plan under the WA Disability Services Act (1993) and the Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act (1992).
Public comment is invited on how the Department can ensure that people with disabilities:
• Have the same opportunities as other people to access the Department’s building facilities and services, as well as any events it may hold.
• Receive information from the Department in a format that will enable them to access the information as readily as other people are able to access it.
• Receive the same level and quality of service from the Department’s employees.
• Have the same opportunities as other people to make complaints to the Department, and participate in any public consultation the Department undertakes.
Submissions can be made either verbally or in writing to Joanna Stuart, Human Resources Branch, Department of State Development, 1 Adelaide Terrace, East Perth WA 6004 or email Joanna.Stuart@dsd.wa.gov.au or telephone the Department on + 61 8 9222 0555.
The closing date for public comment is Friday, 13 November 2009.
