Employee Benefits
As an employee of the Department of State Development the following benefits and conditions of service are available to you.
Salary
Salary payments are paid fortnightly and are transferred at your request to a nominated bank account, building society or credit union.
Salary Packaging
Employees may seek to enter into salary packaging arrangements. Salary packaging is where employees enter into a salary "sacrifice" arrangement with their employer. That is, the employee voluntarily foregoes (or "sacrifices") part of their cash in return for the employer paying for certain items on behalf of the employee (eg motor vehicle, payment of private superannuation contributions and/or a laptop computer).
Such arrangements must be in accordance with Government policy. The administrative arrangements for salary packaging will be entirely at the discretion of the Director General.
Superannuation
All new WA State Public Sector employees automatically become members of the GESB Super (taxed scheme) administered through the Government Employees Superannuation Board.
The employer contribution is currently 9% of your salary. Employees can choose various options for their superannuation, dependant on their personal needs. They also have the option of making personal top up contributions to the fund.
For enquiries about GESB superannuation call Member Services on 13 43 72 or visit their website, www.gesb.wa.gov.au
