Onslow Strategic Industrial Area

WorleyParsons’ consultant team was commissioned to undertake a study into the implications of the potential expansion of the Onslow Strategic Industrial Area (SIA).

The purpose of this study is to assess the likely synergistic industries that could locate in the SIA and the suitable land, port and service corridor arrangements and associated implications for the townsite of Onslow.

The study investigates the following key issues:

• Identification of the most suitable land within close proximity to the proposed Pilbara LNG plant site and Onslow Salt for industrial development
• Constraints on development due to flood risk 
• Suitable buffer zones surrounding industry 
• Potential multi-user service corridors 
• Environmental and heritage constraints 
• Impacts on the existing Onslow Salt project 
• Infrastructure requirements to service future industry 
• Direct and indirect population impacts on the town of Onslow 
• Controls and approvals required for the LNG and multi-user port facilities 
• Public Beach Access 
• A similar but reduced level of assessment for the potential SIA at Locker Point and Tubridgi
