Japan

Japan has retained its status as Western Australia's 2nd largest market for goods exports valued at A$17.8 billion in 2008. This is a 50 per cent (A$5.9 billion) increase over 2007.

There is a wealth of trade opportunities available in a number of sectors, including:

agriculture
biotechnology
education
food and beverages
health and aged care
minerals and mining
petroleum and gas.

Western Australia’s relationship with Japan is strengthened through a Sister State Relationship with Hyogo Prefecture. Free Trade Agreement negotiations are also underway between Australia and Japan.
