Malaysia
Malaysia continued to gain prominence as an export partner in 2008, increasing its ranking by three places to become Western Australia's 14th largest market for goods exports.
Goods exports to Malaysia have increased significantly over the past few years from A$365 million in 2005 to A$867 million in 2008.
There is a wealth of trade opportunities available in a number of sectors, including:
- construction
- defence and security
- education and training
- environmental sectors – waste water treatment, air quality and solid waste management
- information and communication technology
- livestock
- oil and gas
- food and beverage
- tourism.
Free Trade Agreement negotiations are underway between Australia and Malaysia.
