The Western Australian Government has planned the pipeline route to meet existing demand in the South West and maximise the economic potential of gas supply.
The new pipeline will commence in Bunbury and be capable of servicing the towns of Donnybrook, Bridgetown, Manjimup and Mount Barker with natural gas, including the conversion of Albany from LPG to natural gas.
The government has identified an alignment for the pipeline that minimises impacts on private landholders and the environment and will encourage the selected proponent to utilise established reserves and easements for the pipeline where possible.
The selected proponent will be responsible for obtaining relevant construction and works approvals and conducting consultation and negotiation with affected landowners and communities.
The final pipeline alignment will be determined through planning and approvals processes.
