The Western Australian Government will explore opportunities associated with the uptake of batteries in Western Australia and globally.
Rechargeable batteries, both in electric vehicles and in electricity grids, are a key part of transitioning to modern, cleaner and more energy-secure societies.
The domestic uptake of battery technologies will create new opportunities for battery-related economic activities. The Western Australian Government will work with industry, the Federal Government, research organisations and local governments to better understand and seize opportunities associated with the increasing uptake of batteries in Australia and globally.
To achieve this, the State Government will:
- Explore domestic and export opportunities associated with the assembly, installation and management of energy storage systems.
- Assess recycling needs, opportunities and regulatory requirements.
- Explore manufacturing opportunities associated with the demand for niche battery products.
